
20 Oct VII International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art WTA
The spanish artist María Muñoz attends the VII International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art in Montevideo, participating with three works.
The WTA (World Textile Organization) has organized its Biennial this year in Uruguay, Spain being the country invited on this occasion. Different exhibitions, workshops and conferences have been programmed in both Montevideo and Punta del Este, making Uruguay the world center of textile art during the month of October.

María has exhibited her work “The lines of my hand” in the Spanish Cultural Center of Montevideo, for the selection of pieces of Spanish artists titled DOBLE ANCHO, displayed on balconies, hers with the title “Make a Wish.” The Delegate of Culture of the Embassy of Spain attended the inauguration, which recieved a numerous public.

Alongside the Spanish artists Amalia Campos and María Ortega, Maria Muñoz was interviewed live for the South Broadcaster of Montevideo where it was explained what the WTA is and the contribution of Spanish artists to this Biennial edition as a guest country.

At the Atchugarry Foundation in Punta del Este María Muñoz gave a conference for textile artists in which she described what artistic creation is for her and showed her creative trajectory in recent years. In addition, she exhibited her work “De Aquí para Allá” in this same foundation, located in a beautiful environment surrounded by art and nature.

In her conference entitled “Impossible is an opinion” Maria spoke of what artistic creation means to her and her vision of what every work of art must contain:
- Betting on the impossible.
- Have faith in oneself.
- Thinking that magic can happen.
- Always seek expression and wonder.
- Read and incorporate poetry to all artistic creations.
- Belong to your time.
Her conference was very well received, especially by young artists.
